Day 1: Tbilisi – Geguti – Mukhuri
Day 2: Mukhuri – Tsalenjikha – Intsra waterfall – Mukhuri
Day 3: Mukhuri – Tbilisi
The program
Day 1: Tbilisi – Geguti – Mukhuri
In the morning meet your guide and drive to Mukhuri – a small village in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region. The first stop will be at Geguti Palace located in Imereti region. The Palace was built in 8th century and was a hunting residence of Georgian royal family. Unfortunately, most part of complex is destroyed now, but you can still see the remains of a large dome with a ceiling covered in glazed tile. After exploring the complex drive to a small natural qvevri winery Vazis Xidi https://www.vazisxidi.com/ Here you will try several types of wine and enjoy lunch with traditional Georgian dishes interpreted with modern way. After lunch continue your drive to village Mukhuri and have a check-in at family run guest house Dadia https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100063637418037 After short rest you will have a horseback riding at Lugela valley. The trail is going along the river Khobistskali. Here you will explore Shurumbu canyon. the duration of riding will take about 3 hrs. Dinner and overnight at guesthouse.
Day 2: Mukhuri – Tsalenjikha – Intsra waterfall – Mukhuri
In the morning after breakfast drive to Tsalenjikha and visit Persitsvaleba Cathedral. built in 10-13 centuries. The Tsalenjikha complex includes a church, a bell tower and a tunnel. The facades of Cathedral are not decorated but interior is covered with frescos. Later continue drive to Kosta’s cheese factory https://sp.cheeseroute.ge/en/cheesemaker/kostana/ and see how famous Megrelian cheese Sulguni is made. After tasting the cheese drive to small village Chkvaleri – a starting point of todays horseback riding to Instsa waterfall. The trail goes through a forested valley along Intsra river. The total length of pass is about 3.5-4 km and last few hundred meters you have to hike, as horses could not ride through the slippery stones and narrow passes. Intsra waterfall is 26 meter high and falls between boxwood groves and moss-covered vertical rocks. The canyon is hidden into the moss and creates a very mystical, fairytale environment. After short rest you will have an outdoor picnic lunch in nature, have a short rest and then continue your ride back to village Chkvaleri. In the evening dinner and overnight at guesthouse Dadia.
Day 3: Mukhuri – Tbilisi
In the morning after breakfast check out from guest house Dadia and drive to Tbilisi. On your way you will have a lunch stop at family run restaurant Lia Deida https://www.facebook.com/Liadeida?locale=ka_GE The name of this place in Georgian means “Aunt Lia” who is a home-cooking. She had soaked up the influences of her grandmother and mother to form her own style. The menu is exceptional Imeretian, very authentic and delicious. After lunch continue your drive to Tbilisi. Arrival in Tbilisi and end of the tour.
