Day 1: Tbilisi – Makaridze winery – Mukhuri
Day 2: Mukhuri – Shurubumu Canyon – Mukhuri
Day 3: Mukhuri – Tsalenjikha – Tbilisi
The program
Day 1: Tbilisi – Makaridze winery – Mukhuri
Meet your guide and drive towards Samegrelo in a small village Mukhuri. First stop will be at Makaridze wine cellar https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100064689190431 for lunch and wine tasting. Gogita Makaridze produces fine natural wine with traditional Georgian methods. Beside of wine tasting you will have a delicious lunch. Keto – the wife of Gogita is a home cook together with her sister-in-low Ela making very special Georgian dishes. After lunch continue drive and visit Kostana cheese small factory https://sp.cheeseroute.ge/en/cheesemaker/kostana/ Kosta, the owner, started productions of Megrelian gouda cheese mixing 3 types of milk and grown in gouda, seasoned with salt and pepper giving a savory taste and character. Latter in the evening arrive to small guesthouse Morti https://www.facebook.com/ghmorti enhoy short rest before dinner. Overnight at guesthouse.
Day 2: Mukhuri – Shurubumu Canyon – Mukhuri
After breakfast get ready for horseback riding to explore Shurubumu canyon located in Lugela valley. The valley is surrounded by the impressive peaks of the Caucasus Mountains with picturesque environment and nature, dense forests, crystal-clear rivers and waterfalls, lush greenery and diverse flora. The trail goes through the unspoiled nature with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, mossy rocks and mineral water springs. First you will pass Shurubumu Canyon – a hidden natural treasure famous for its stunning landscapes, dramatic rock formations, steep cliffs, and lush vegetation. The duration of riding is about 6 hours and you will have an outdoor picnic lunch. After horseback riding have a short rest at guesthouse before dinner. Overnight at guesthouse.
Day 3: Mukhuri – Tsalenjikha – Tbilisi
In the morning after breakfast check out from the guest house and drive back to Tbilisi. The first stop will be at to Tsalenjikha and visit the Cathedral built in 10-13 centuries. The complex includes a church, a bell tower and a tunnel. The facades of Cathedral are not decorated but interior is covered with frescos. Later continue your drive and have a lunch stop at a small village café in Argveta. https://www.facebook.com/Liadeida?locale=ka_GE The place is called Lia Deida – Aunt Lia – a home-cooking, serving exeptional imeretian dishes learned from her mother and grandmother. After lunch continue your drive to and arrive in Tbilisi, end of the tour.
