The small villages are hidden in greenery hills and valleys of river Kvirila, that will remind you stories from fiery tails. Day 1: Tbilisi – Ucha’s winery – Argveti – Sachkhere – Chikha
Day 2: Chikha – Darka wooden church – Maradiuli winery – Tbilisi
The program
Day 1: Tbilisi – Ucha’s winery – Argveti – Sachkhere – Chikha
In the morning meet your guide and drive to Imereti region. The first stop will be in a small village Makhatauri to have a lunch and wine tasting at Ucha’s winery https://shorturl.at/YpFqE This is a small family run winery, producing traditional natural qvevri wines. You will meet Ucha – the host and winemaker and he will share his story, shows traditional Imeretian marani – Oda. Beside of wine tasting here you will have lunch with famous Imeretian dishes. Later continue drive to village Argveta, where the famous Georgian poet Paulo Iashvili was born and visit his house-museum. He was a leader among the Georgian symbolist poets. When Soviet forces occupied Georgia in 1921, many of the talented writers went quiet or were sidelined. Paulo was put under pressure as well and he committed suicide in 1937. After visitin house museum, continue your drive to Sachkhere and meet the folk ensemble “Sakhioba” https://sakhioba.ge/ and attanted their workshop and listen to Georgian polyphonic singing. In the evening after arrival at village Chikha, check-in in a small guest house Shalvaseuli https://shorturl.at/frw7U Have a short rest and get ready for dinner.
Day 2: Chikha – Darka church – Speti church – Maradiuli winery – Tbilisi
In the morning after breakfast get ready for horseback riding to Darka wooden church built in 19th century, located in a small village Darka. After visiting this unique wooden church, that is so unusual for Georgian culture, continue ride trough the forests and visit Speti church, located on a top of a small hill overlooking these small surrounding villages. Leter continue your ride back to Shalvaseuli guesthouse, where you will meet your driver to come back to Tbilisi. For lunch you will stop at Maradiuli wine cellar https://shorturl.at/bfdAV where you will try traditional natural Imeretian wines and have a lunch there. The host and wine maker will meet you and share his experience and knowledge. The wine is fermented in qvevri and all grapes are harvested with organic practices. After wine tasting and lunch continue your drive to Tbilisi, arrival in capital and end of the tour.
